Activision Blizard will say goodbye to his current president, David Alegre in 2023. The reason? According to Yuga Labs’ announcement, Alegre’s leadership will help the company to create a “vision of a truly interoperable metaverse.” He is set to succeed current CEO, Nicole Muniz who will stay on as a partner and strategic advisor to the company. Also, Alegre will work closely with Yuga Labs founders Wylie Aronow and Greg Solano in continuing to explore options to grow the business.
Actually, Aronow confessed that they have been looking for someone like Alegre for a long time:
“Nicole, Greg, and I have been on the hunt for someone with Daniel’s skill set for some time. The business, our ambitions, and the complexity of the work have grown beyond our wildest expectations. We are thrilled to have him join the team to help with our vision of a truly interoperable metaverse. Daniel has held one of the highest level roles at one of the largest gaming companies in the world. He brings valuable experience across entertainment, e-commerce, and global strategic partnerships."
Alegre also expressed his excitement by noting that this is a massive opportunity for him to define the way the metaverse can empower creators and users. “I look forward to working with the passionate, creative team at Yuga to innovate, inspire, and shape the future of the internet together.”
Now, about the Activision-Blizzard-King acquisition, there is no way to confirm that Alegre decided to run away before the purchase ends, however taking into account that he was accused of being part of the execs that were using the Microsoft deal to grow their own pockets things looks a little bit fishy.
