PlayStation has confirmed that its State of Play will return this week, and much like recent editions, it won’t be a general showcase. Instead, it’s going all in on one of 2026’s most anticipated releases: 007 First Light, the upcoming James Bond game from IO Interactive.
Players already got a first look at Bond’s new story in June, but this week’s presentation promises a much deeper dive. The upcoming event will feature over 30 minutes of gameplay and is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 3, at 11 a.m. PT, 2 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. GMT, and 8 p.m. CEST. The broadcast will stream live on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.

For the first time, viewers will see the opening mission in full. The gameplay follows a young James Bond as he joins MI6 as a rookie recruit, showcasing a mix of firefights, stealth sequences, and car chases. Developers from IO Interactive will also share their vision for the project, giving fans a clearer picture of what awaits in this bold reimagining of the world’s most famous spy.
What We Know About 007 First Light
IO Interactive is framing the game as an origin story. Rather than the polished veteran we’re used to, players will step into the shoes of a 26-year-old Bond who is daring, ambitious, and still learning what it means to be an agent. His journey begins with MI6 training, a grueling program designed to push recruits to their limits.
The cast won’t be entirely unfamiliar, though. Early trailers have already confirmed appearances by M, Q, and Moneypenny, alongside new characters such as Greenway, Bond’s mentor who will guide him through the early stages of his career. Between brutal combat, tense stealth encounters, and cinematic vehicle action, 007 First Light is shaping up to deliver a dynamic take on the iconic franchise.
