Its not just any Sunday. Hardcore fans will know that today, March 10, is celebrated as Mario Day, commemorating one of the most important franchises in gaming. Nintendo kicked off the celebrations with exciting announcements.
To celebrate Mario Day, also known as MAR10 Day, creative genius Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that Super Mario Bros. The Movie, the popular but divisive animated film from Illumination and Universal Pictures, will have a sequel in 2026. Additionally, he disclosed the release date for Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
To conclude the round of announcements, Nintendo revealed that the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service for the hybrid console will be enriched with 3 classic games featuring the worlds most famous plumber.

Nintendo Switch Online: 3 retro Mario games coming to the service in March
The first title on the list is Dr. Mario, a fun puzzle game that originally debuted for the Game Boy in the distant year of 1990. In this game, players must prevent a virus from spreading by placing white, black, and gray blocks in the right place to create lines of the same color.
The second title joining the Nintendo Switch Online retro catalog is Mario Golf, a spin-off that arrived on the Game Boy Color in 1999. It is a sports game where fans participate in simple golf matches with the plumber. It includes a story mode with RPG elements.

The third title coming to the subscription service is Mario Tennis, another sports spin-off of the Nintendo franchise. In this classic from Game Boy Color in 2001, players engage in simple matches of the popular sport and can play an RPG mode that the Nintendo 64 version, which debuted the same year, did not include.
The 3 classic Nintendo games will join the Nintendo Switch Online library on March 12, 2024, so subscribers can enjoy them at no additional cost in just a matter of days.
