Team Fortress 2 had an awful bot episode that was destroying the game, saying the least. This ended up in a massive fan campaign demanding Valve a solution; although the problem persists, there is finally a small light at the end of the tunnel.
As a surprise, an update arrived on the multiplayer video game a few hours ago. The bots remain a problem, but the most recent patch, which is the first to debut for a long time, fixes some bugs that the AI was using to undermine the games.

Here are the details
Specifically, the update fixes minor bugs related to character animations and problems with Halloween skins, which is surprising considering that some of those bugs were in Team Fortress 2 a decade ago. Some exploits were also addressed, which in theory should make the fight against bots easier.
For example, the voting system is new and now allows both teams to vote simultaneously, which is very useful and will allow AI users to be kicked out more effectively. Also, it is now impossible to change your name in the middle of a game, a tactic that bots used to use to have the same nickname as legitimate players.
Last but not least, it is now no longer possible to enter cheats in the developer console on secure servers or spam the chat as is now more difficult.
Hopefully, Valve will release more updates in order to end up the bot problem once and for all. For now, the community is happy and is waiting for the next step in this long way to go.
