More often than not, people forget that behind their favorite hobbies and entertainment go-tos, there are working teams that also have their own hobbies and spare time. Sometimes, this spare time can include social media posting. It’s a ubiquitous treat to anyone owning a cellphone right now.
Social media has become a massive part of our lives, and there’s no way to deny this fact. On the other side, it is also well-known that many companies are against their workers spending time on social media during working hours. And while this can be understandable, some working places take it too far in this matter, prohibiting certain content on their social media accounts (and it’s even not related to their work). This is the case right now for Riot Games.
An employee recently shared online that the famous developer company controls what kind of content they are allowed to post.
Riot Lydia, a software engineer on VALORANT at Riot Games, tweeted about Riot expressing discomfort for a swimsuit picture another employee posted on social media. The company ultimately made them take the picture down.
If you're a woman at riot and you post a swimsuit pic you can get in trouble with HR and have to delete but then u go to the office and guys r walking around in t shirts emblazoned with bikini models and there's a policy forbidding you from complaining about specifically this 🥴

Riot spokesperson has provided an official comment on the situation to Dot Esports:
“Unfortunately, the referenced tweet included incorrect information about Riot’s internal policies. There is absolutely nothing that prohibits any Rioter from raising concerns if they find specific attire offensive. In fact, we want and encourage Rioters to bring any concerns they may have about their workplace environment to the attention of our HR team so that they can be explored as quickly as possible.
Similarly, when it comes to social media content of any type, we encourage Rioters to raise content that may be concerning. In those instances, we may take action if the content violates our policies or is against our company values to keep Riot’s workplace safe and inclusive.
It’s challenging to create a blanket rule about what is and isn’t allowed on social media — there is a lot of context and nuance we must consider with any individual case — but I can assure you that there is no explicit policy against posting bikini photos or swimsuit photos in general. We expect all Rioters to use good judgment and consider the context when posting. We hold accounts that include ‘Riot’ in the username, are regularly used for Riot-related communication or are used for communication with Riot colleagues to a higher standard than strictly personal accounts.”
Many people come across this very delicate situation in their work environments. In this case, it turned out to be someone who raised her voice and went viral. But most of the time, this kind of situation goes unnoticed.
