In celebration of the manga's 20th anniversary, FullMetal Alchemist will be adapted into a mobile game. If you live in Japan, you will have the chance to try this new entry by Square Enix on August 4 on iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play.
While the game will only be available in Japan when it launches, a west release might be possible if the title manages to make enough money.
Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most influential manga and anime series in Japanese history. The manga's first tankōbon (compilation volume) was released in the Gekkan Shōnen Gangan magazine in January 2002.
What will Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile offer?
The original story and battle scenes come back to life in high-quality 3D CG, and the world of this masterpiece gets recreated in detail.
The story follows two young alchemists, Edward and Alphonse Elric. When their mother passes away, the boys attempt to bring her back to life by performing human transmutation, a forbidden technique in alchemy. The two boys pay a terrible price for their actions: Edward loses his leg, and Alphonse loses his physical body.
Luckily, Edward is at least able to transplant Alphonse’s soul into a suit of armor by giving up his arm, making them a mangled metal pair. The story follows the boys in their journey to acquire a philosopher’s stone, which would bypass the limitations of alchemy and allow Alphonse to get his body back.

The announcement was made today through Twitter, where they revealed the game's release date along with a promotional image.
