Unfortunately, the shortage of components continues to be a problem for large technology companies; as many already know, Sony was one of those companies affected by the decision to increase the cost of some of their products months ago.
Until now, PlayStation has remained free of price increases, but many wonder if Sony is already considering such an adjustment due to the lack of chips and other components to manufacture the next generation consoles.
SONY REFUSES TO TALK ABOUT A POSSIBLE PRICE INCREASE ON PS5
Sony has previously explained that some of its technology products have increased in price due to a shortage of semiconductors. This affected its business of cameras, audio systems, headphones, and other products. In addition, other factors not detailed led to a rise in its production and distribution costs, so in an adjustment, it was somewhat expected.
At a recent investor meeting, someone asked the company if the PS5 could increase in price.
However, Sony's response was unclear as they refused to talk about the situation.
"On a possible price increase for PS5, at this time, there is nothing specific that I can share with you about prices," said Hiroki Totoki, the company's chief financial officer.
Analysts believe that the shortage will lead to a price increase by chipmakers over time. This, in turn, would translate into rising costs for a wide range of technology products.
