Riot Games is working on a new fighting game known by the codename Project L. A topic that players always brought up when talking about this title was its cost. Fortunately, the company confirmed that this new entry is following the same path as League of Legends and Valorant, meaning a free-to-play model.
"One of our goals is to remove as many barriers as possible from you enjoying Project L," Tom Cannon, the project's Senior Director explained. "We want you to be able to play, no matter where you live, what your skill level is, or how much money you have to spend on a game."
Project L is a fighting game based on 2 VS 2 assists in the same vein as titles such as the Marvel VS Capcom series, starring characters that became popular in the League of Legends universe, with its latest addition being the giant champion, Illaoi.
This entry could have a monetization similar to the previously mentioned titles; a store where you will be able to buy cosmetics and Battle Passes. Characters will probably also be unlocked or purchased using real money. Cannon also says the game's monetization will be "respectful of both your time and your wallet."

The game will also have a lot of secondary features that other fighting games have lacked, as the update confirms that things like competitive play and social systems are on the way.
Project L does not yet have a release window yet, but Riot has confirmed that it will not arrive in 2022.
