TwitchCon 2022 is coming back the year and if you weren’t aware yet, the event will take place in San Diego California from October 7 to 9 of this year.
While we understand that the demand for conventions and live events is significantly high, it doesn’t mean that the pandemic is over, moreover, is even more common for organizers to ask for higher health measures. This doesn’t seem to apply to TwitchCon.
According to its Health Measures section and highlighted by reporter and content creator Zach Bussey; this event will not require COVID-19 vaccination proof, or testing requirements, actually, although masks are encouraged, they are not needed to attend TwitchCon.
Twitchcon updated the Health measures page.

"In accordance with current local guidelines, there will be no COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements at TwitchCon San Diego. Although masks are encouraged, they are not currently required."https://t.co/MRq9mX6lRQ#TwitchNews pic.twitter.com/g2wfeiIhYv
What caught the attention of many is that they noted that this is according with current local guidelines, which is funny as Comic-Con was held in San Diego as well and required both masks and proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID 19 test.
That's really fascinating, considering despite literally taking place in the same location, San Diego @Comic_Con required both masks and proof of vaccination OR proof of negative COVID 19 test. pic.twitter.com/gNerzHI8Z9

Did Twitch respond?
No, at least not yet… however users have raised their voice already, posting several comments on the Twitch UserVoice forum expressing their concerns.
Of course, we understand that people's opinions can be extremely polarizing on this kind of theme, however, regulations should be mandatory for every event, as organizers are bound to guarantee safety for attendees.
In case the company release a statement, this article will be updated.
