MultiVersus Season 1 delayed just days before its premiere

MultiVersus has been in open beta for a few days now, but that hasn't stopped thousands of players from all over the world from giving Warner Bros.' free-to-play fighting game a try, and it has become a massive success in a matter of hours. Meanwhile, its creators continue to work on Season 1's future.

Its premiere was supposed to take place on August 9, but the team has decided to postpone it until a date to be determined. This extra time will allow them to provide brand new content that will delight fans, though they promise that the wait will be brief. The official MultiVersus Twitter account shared a statement where they revealed this delay.

“A big thank you to everyone playing MultiVersus,” reads the statement. “It’s exciting to see so many players enjoying the game, and the launch of the Open Beta is just the beginning."

“We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 and the release of Morty to a later date — we know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our Community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players.''

“We’ll let you know the timing as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience & enthusiasm and look forward to unveiling Season 1 very soon.”

Season 1 includes a new battle pass that will have 50 tiers and will cost 950 Gleamium, the game's internal currency. Furthermore.

MultiVersus confirmed that Rick and Morty are becoming playable characters when they join the squad in the upcoming season, though they will do so separately, with Morty being the first.

We'll have to wait and see what other surprises are in store for us in this MultiVersus update. Until then, you can play as much as you want on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC for free.
