League of Legends: Udyr rework details

Riot Games gave us a first glimpse of the redesigned champion

Last year, League of Legends fans voted on the official Riot Games account that Udyr was the character who needed a complete remaster.

The decision meant following in the footsteps of champions such as Fiddlesticks and Volibear with a visual and gameplay redesign.

After several months of development and work, Riot Games presented the new Udyr. The skinwalker has not changed in essence, but its appearance looks much more powerful, in addition to new skills based on the spirits of various wild creatures.

The old Udyr possessed the abilities of the Monkey, Bear, Tortoise, Tiger, and Phoenix. Some of these creatures, such as the Bear and the Phoenix, will remain central to Udyr's gameplay, while the Shaman will wield the power of the Ram or the Boar.

Furthermore, the Bear and Phoenix's abilities will change, as they will no longer be the same as we have known them. Within Udyr's new abilities, we also see a clear nod to Ornn (Ram), Volibear (Bear), Sejuani (Boar), and Anivia (Cryophenix).

''As you can see we’ve made a lot of progress and we think his base is coming along nicely. I think it’s worth sharing that Udyr does have quite a few skins, and the nature of his form swapping makes each one take longer than the average champion would—not to mention he also has an Ultimate skin.'' The official champion insights article reads.

''Given all that, we still have a ways to go before we can finally get the new Udyr into your hands. We want to make sure we get him and his skins right before he releases into the wild, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated in future champion roadmaps once we have a clearer picture.''
