With the release of Styanax, the 50th playable Warframe in the MMO, Digital Extremes celebrates a historic success for its science fiction game Warframe.
Styanax, which was revealed in a short Warframe animation at Devstream 163, will be added to all players' arsenals for a limited time and completely free when Veilbreaker launches on all platforms sometime in September.
Styanax is a mighty Herculean Warframe inspired by the ancient Greek warrior Astyanax, with formidable abilities and immense power that Warframe players will be able to master in the Origin System.
As the first extension of the Warframe entertainment universe, the new animated short film follows Styanax as he helps restore order to the Origin System after a group of Corpus colonists moves forward with a nefarious agenda led by a heartbreaking cult leader, The Philanthropist.
These are Styanax weapons and abilities
Digital Extremes revealed more details about the new Warframe, inspired by Greek legends of Hercules and other mythological figures.
- Primary Weapon: Afentis - Styanax’s speargun matches his might. Throw Afentis to pin an enemy and nearby enemies will also be stunned. Throw Afentis onto the ground to create a field that buffs allies. When allies bolstered by Afentis kill an enemy, they maintain the buff for a short time after they leave the field.
- Axios Javelin - Call upon the Axios Javelin. Any enemy Styanax strikes with his javelin is pushed back. When the javelin propels an enemy into a wall, the area suffers a burst of damage.
- Tharros Strike - Summon Tharros, the shield of Styanax. Swing Tharros to repel enemies and reduce their shields and armor. Styanax regenerates health for every enemy struck.
- Rally Point - Draw enemy attention to Styanax. His resolve uplifts nearby allies, regenerating their energy and shields. Shield regeneration increases with the number of enemies near Styanax.
- Final Stand - Exude might and valor. Rise into the air and throw a barrage of Axios Javelins. The javelins deal damage to nearby enemies wherever they land. Direct hits to enemies deal even greater damage.
Along with the release of Styanax, the Veilbreaker update for Warframe is set to deliver unprecedented action, as fan favorite Grineer Kahl-175 returns as a playable character in a new mission following the events of the critically acclaimed The New War update.
After an Entrati family daughter picks up a strange signal, the Tenno are contacted to investigate a Murex ship near Deimos and determine its origin. The Veilbreaker update for Warframe will include a slew of new weekly playable missions centered on Kahl-175, offering cooperative, expansive action combat and allowing players to raise Kahl's overall rank.
Warframe was released in 2013 and is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
