Gridman Universe crossover film reveals 2023 premiere

A new promotional image for the feature film Gridman Universe has been released on the official website of the upcoming joint project of the SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon franchises, confirming that it is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters in 2023. Yuta Hibikiche, who is in charge of character design, created the visual.

The series SSSS.Dynazenon aired in Japan during the Spring-2021 season (April-June), counting twelve episodes and being a spiritual sequel to the original anime Gridman Universe, which is based on a tokusatsu series (a name referring to any Japanese live-action series that makes absurd use of special effects) aired between 1993 and 1994. Tsuburaya Productions and Trigger Studios collaborated to create the series.

Gridman Universe cast

These are the confirmed cast members so far:

• Akira Amemiya - (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Inferno Cop) is in charge of directing the feature film at Studio Trigger.

• Keiichi Hasegawa - (Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis, Gegege no Kitarou (2018), The Big O) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.

• Masaru Sakamoto - (Angel Beats!, Kill la Kill, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) is responsible for character design and animation direction.

• Shiro Sagisu - (BLEACH, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.

SSSS. Gridman follows Yuuta Hibiki wakes up in Rikka Takarada's room and realizes two things: he has no memories and he can hear a mysterious voice calling him from a nearby room. Upon further inspection, he finds a robot-which introduces itself as the hyper-agent Gridman-behind an old computer screen.

To Yuuta's surprise, Rikka cannot hear Gridman, nor can he see the menacing monsters looming over a thick fog that shrouds the city outside. Another giant monster materializes in the city. Amid the confusion, Yuuta is attracted to the old computer and merges with Gridman. Suddenly, he appears in the middle of the battle and is forced to fight the monster.

Together with Rikka and her partner Shou Utsumi, Yuuta forms the "Gridman Alliance" to defeat the monsters plaguing the city and find the one responsible for their appearance.
