The 2020’s compilation Super Mario 3D All-Stars which commemorated the 35th anniversary of Super Mario’s franchise had a short run with a time-limited release; that if you don’t remember didn’t sit well with many players. However, the collection was a big success or at least that is what a recent report has informed.
The collection was conformed by high-definition ports of Super Mario 64 (1996), Super Mario Sunshine (2002), and Super Mario Galaxy (2007). Which had an outstanding commercial performance and managed to ship millions of copies.
According to research firm CESA via IGN, the Super Mario Bros. commemorative collection sold 9.07 million copies around the world in its limited-time release that started on September 2020. The compilation was available until March 31, 2021, nonetheless, the data gathered covers the period up to December 31, 2021.

Nintendo knew what they were doing
We need to admit that this is not a surprise, Nintendo is known for having a very loyal consumer base. That and the limited time catch, clearly caught the attention of all and sundry.
Actually, in its May financial report last year, Nintendo revealed that Super Mario 3D All-Stars managed to ship 9.01 million units by that time. This means that approximately 600,000 copies were sold in the last few months, which is incredible considering once again that the project is no longer on sale.
Even though it was a limited release, we should remember that it is still possible to find copies of the video game on Amazon and other online stores. With this in mind, it is not surprising that there are units still in circulation in the market.
But tell us, you were part of the 9.6 million buyers? Did you enjoy the compilation? Share your opinions below.
