The rumored Nintendo Direct could be delayed by the death of Queen Elizabeth II

It seems that Nintendo will show respect to mourning

A few weeks ago, we reported on a rumor of a possible Nintendo Direct in the middle of this month. However, this afternoon the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom was confirmed, unfortunate news that went around the world.

For obvious reasons, since it is a sensitive topic and out of respect for mourning, the rumored Nintendo Direct may be delayed.

Jeff Grubb, who had spoken about this possible Nintendo event, commented on his Twitter account that it might not occur.

Here we leave his Twitter:

Clearly, Nintendo hasn't officially announced anything, and that's all a rumor. Still, Jeff Grubb is one of the most reliable sources in the industry, so if what he says is true, this would mean that Nintendo would respect the mourning and not appear insensitive by sharing happy news in a sensitive period for the whole of the United Kingdom.

Remember that in 2018 there was a strong earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan, so Nintendo delayed a Nintendo Direct for seven days. Also, in another example, there is PlayStation, as they had postponed an event after several marches in the United States.

These decisions only show that the brands are aware of and sympathize with world events, so it would be logical that the event does not actually occur on the rumored dates.

In any case, we remind you that here at LEVEL UP, we will keep you informed about any news in the video game industry.
