Interview reveals wise advice Miyamoto shared about gaming

Words that date back to 1989

Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the most brilliant and valuable minds in the video game industry, being the creator of sagas such as Mario Bros. The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Pikmin.

And years ago Miyamoto shared in an interview great advice that anyone who is in the development of a video game would surely appreciate.

Everything indicates that the great result that he has obtained in his projects was due to the fact that since the beginning of the industry he knew very well how to do things, or at least he made it clear in a talk with BEEP magazine in 1989, which was translated by Shulations and shared by Dave Rupert.

When BEEP asked the creator what the secret to success in the video game industry is, Miyamoto, replied as follows:

"Well, what's worked for me so far is finding something I want to do that matches what the market currently needs. If you believe in your idea, and that it's something that people are going to want, then just refine it and elevate it to a sufficient level of quality. So no matter how talented the staff you've been blessed with, if you don't have a clear direction for your idea, I don't think a good game will come out," said the Japanese.

In addition to these words, Miyamoto went on to say that each staff member must contribute to the overall product and that the leader must keep everyone united and on track so as not to stray from the initial idea.

As you can see, it seems that the mind behind Nintendo's biggest franchises was always clear on how each game development process should be done, so it's no surprise that their titles have been so successful.
