COD: Modern Warfare II hasn't debuted, but is already a big hit on Steam

Activision's franchise returned to Valve's platform this year

Despite losing millions of players in recent months, Call of Duty remains one of the most important franchises on the market. Actually, the Activision franchise returned to Valve's platform this year after a long time of absence as their most recent instalments debuted exclusively on Battle.net, Blizzard's PC launcher.

Let’s say that this is not a problem, as their comeback on Steam seems to be a good decision as the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is already sweeping the Steam Charts. Although the game is a little more than a month away to enjoy, a new Beta has just opened its doors for players who pre-ordered on PC and Xbox consoles and of course, is available on Steam.

Good numbers for a good comeback

According to data from Steam Charts, the beta achieved an impressive peak of 109,425 concurrent players during its launch. The record for the last 24 hours is just over 84,000 concurrent users, according to the portal.

This information is similar to the official data of the new statistics system of Valve's platform, which shows that 56,069 people are enjoying the game at the time of writing these lines. On the other hand, the maximum peak of the last 24 hours is 87,290 concurrent users. It is important to note that the Beta can only be accessed by players who pre-ordered their copy of the game. It will be until tomorrow, September 24, when the trial will be available to everyone.

Remember that COD: Modern Warfare II is currently the best-selling video game on the platform worldwide according to official data. With this information in mind, it is not surprising that Sony is worried about losing the franchise after Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 28.
