Almost without realizing it, the number of movies based on video games has been increasing in recent years. As with comics, the film industry is increasingly turning to video games attempting to attract new audiences to theaters and streaming platforms.
Given this scenario, one of the most anticipated projects is the already-announced adaptation to the big screen of Hideo Kojima's masterpiece, Metal Gear Solid. With so much time without having a real update on its status, who recently spoke a bit about it was the actor who will bring Solid Snake to life on the big screen, Oscar Isaac.

Oscar has hope in this project with "so much potential"
In a recent interview with Comic Book focused on his upcoming graphic novel, the actor was asked about the Metal Gear Solid movie.
"We want it to happen. Be excited. What's the script? What's the story? What's the take? [...] But hopeful that comes to fruition because there's so much potential for that.", said Isaac.
"It's an incredible game. It's my favorite," the actor added.
As we can see, unfortunately, Oscar has no news to share. However, the good news is that the project seems to be still standing, although progressing very slowly.
Who is involved in this adaptation?
In addition to Oscar Isaac in the role of Solid Snake, there are other names that we already know are working on the film as part of the production team.

Arad Productions, owned by Arad brothers Avi and Ari, are the producers alongside Columbia Pictures, with Columbia's parent company, Sony Pictures Entertainment, in charge of the distribution.
Someone else who is confirmed is Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) as director. As a note, Jordan has been associated with several video games, directing commercials for Destiny 2 and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Additionally, he has a cameo in Kojima's most recent game, Death Stranding.
Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider's Web, Monsters: Dark Continent) and Derek Connolly (Safety Not Guaranteed, Jurassic World Dominion), are in charge of the already-finished script.
In 2014, Kojima stated that he had no interest in writing or directing a Metal Gear Solid film himself. However, in 2017 Vogt-Roberts shared that the writers worked on the film's script with Kojima-san.
According to IMDB, the project is currently in the pre-production stage. With that in mind and considering Oscar Isaac's schedule, filming could take place in 2023, with a tentative premiere for 2024 or 2025.
