Let the man play!

In case you weren’t aware, George R.R. Martin the author of A Song of Ice and Fire the novel that was adapted into the wildly popular HBO series Game of Thrones and its prequel House of the Dragon; served also as a backstory contributor for Elden Ring… and sadly he hasn't been able to play with his creation yet.

Recently, Martin appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and he shared with the public some of his thoughts, among them; not having time to play From Software's latest game.

No, it's not that he’s being forced not to play, the novelist said that he hasn’t played because he is afraid he'd get so addicted that he wouldn't be able to finish his next book, Winds of Winter, ”I have not played it, because people seem to want this Winds of Winter book.”

Good to know your own limits

He elaborated more in his statement:

"I have, unfortunately, a totally addictive personality. I did play video games a long, long time ago, I played games like Railroad Tycoon, Master of Orion, and Homeworld and I would get sucked into it. Weeks, months would go by and I'd be sitting there in my red flannel bathrobe just saying 'one more game, one more game.' I can't, I gotta go cold turkey on this, this is gonna kill me here."

Of course, he cleared up that the book is about three-quarters complete, however, he doesn’t want to risk it and prefers to end once and for all.
