Netflix officially announced Spry Fox's acquisition, with the Cozy Grove developers becoming the sixth in-house studio to join the company's gaming division.

In addition to the survival sandbox Cozy Grove, Spry Fox is also known for titles such as Triple Town, Alphabear, and Road Not Taken. Netflix disclosed the purchase in a blog post on Monday, approaching its first anniversary of introducing games in November.

What does this mean for the studio?

These are the statements made by the company's co-founder, Daniele Cuoco, about their games: "They'll remain downloadable and available in their current forms on their current platforms. What about development efforts on new games? Everyone at Spry Fox was already focused on making Cozy Grove 2 as well as a larger, nonviolent MMO that we still haven't revealed much about publicly, and that is still the case. So there's no change in our current development efforts."

''What has become clear over the course of all of our adventures: We are a studio that builds original, world-class cozy games. Especially games that bring people together. And we are confident that Netflix is going to help us do that.'' Cuoco said.

In case you missed it: 10 Treehouse of Horror stories we all loved since they came out.

Regarding future games, Cuoco added, "Everyone at Spry Fox was already focused on making Cozy Grove 2, as well as anonviolentviolent MMO that we have not yet revealed much about publicly, and we are continuing to work on it. So there is no change in our current development efforts."
