Rockstar has developed many of the games that are, to this day, still very popular. Titles such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and GTA V are most played in non-official servers from Rockstar, more specifically, roleplay (RP) servers.

Many people enjoy these servers mainly due to the in-game character they create. Then, making new friends that also spend a lot of time hanging out together while having unique adventures and valuable memories.

But it seems like there are servers that have been obtaining real money within RP servers using some specific mods. Rockstar noticed it and decided to take a step on the matter.

The official post starts by saying that "Rockstar Games has always believed in reasonable fan creativity and wants creators to showcase their passion for our games."

Then, it emphasizes in the following 5 points:

  • Misuse of Rockstar Games trademarks or game intellectual property (IP)
  • Importation or misuse of other IP in the project, including other Rockstar IP, real-world brands, characters, trademarks or music
  • Commercial exploitation, including the sale of “loot boxes” for real-world currency or its in-game equivalent, the sale of virtual currencies, generating revenue via corporate sponsorships or in-game integrations, or the use of cryptocurrencies or crypto assets (e.g. “NFTs”)
  • Making new games, stories, missions, or maps
  • Interfering with our official multiplayer or online services, including Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online.

In other words, the idea of allowing RP servers is something that they will not interfere as long as their policy is followed. Obtaining monetary benefits such as selling NFT's or any other service will no longer be possible.

In case you missed it: PlayStation contributed with The Callisto Protocol cinematics and more.

This policy can affect a very niche community with these changes. However, regular players can continue their in-game lives as if nothing happened. If you want to get into this world, the experience will be the same as if the new changes didn't happen at all.

Feel free to join this community if you have GTA V, you would only need to follow a good tutorial video that covers everything you need to know, and you are all set! The game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
