Sony and Microsoft have been fighting since the purchase of Activision Blizzard was announced.
The situation is complicated, and the negotiations are approaching a significant phase. Activision Blizzard executives decided to break the silence and affirm that they would fight to close the agreement. They also criticized the position of Sony and the CMA since they believe that the deal does not imply anti-competitive practices and that it will benefit the players.
ACTIVISION BLIZZARD WILL FIGHT TO DEFEND THE SETTLEMENT WITH MICROSOFT
Lulu Cheng Meservey, Activision Blizzard's executive vice president of corporate affairs, spoke about the deal with Microsoft and all the speculation about whether the deal will go through. From their perspective, opinions about harm to competition are meaningless.
Instead, she believes the deal will bring multiple benefits to players and the industry in the United States. For her, this is very important, mainly due to the intense competition with studios and developers from other regions.
“Any suggestion that the transaction could have anti-competitive effects is absurd. This merger will benefit gamers and the video game industry in the United States, especially as we face tougher competition from abroad."
For all of the above, Cheng reaffirmed that they would continue cooperating with regulatory bodies to close the purchase as expected. If there are more obstacles, the board of directors affirmed that they will not hesitate and will fight for the agreement.
“We commit to continue working cooperatively with regulators worldwide to allow the transaction to go ahead, but we will not hesitate to fight to defend the transaction if necessary,” Cheng concluded.
