After the extraordinary successes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring, it can happen to forget the roots in which FromSoftware's long history is rooted. Among the first IPs conceived by the Japanese software house was the mecha universe of Armored Core, which debuted on the market back in 1997.

The team behind it is top-tier

More than ten years have passed since the launch of the last chapters of the saga, Armored Core V and Armored Core: Verdict Day, but the series is now ready to come back. The official announcement came with an unexpected trailer for Amored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, released by FromSoftware at The Game Awards 2022.

Following the reveal, Hidetaka Miyazaki commented on the news, confirming that he helped define the game's basic concept. The celebrated game director also retained the reins of the project in its "initial" phase, later handing over the task to his colleague Yamamura. The latter, who boasts experience as developer of the Dark Souls series and lead designer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is thus the man in charge of bringing back the robots of Armored Core.

This assignment has generated good-natured envy in Miyazaki, who has always been close to the IP. Indeed, the creative admitted that he is deeply "jealous of the firepower" available to the team responsible for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. As a result of FromSoftware's remarkable success in recent years, the mecha series will, in fact, be able to rely on significantly more resources than in the past.
