Parallel to the unexpected announcement of the free-to-play relaunch of Unreal Tournament 3 X, the Epic Games Store team announces the farewell to online support for some past video game productions.

As of next January 24, 2023, several PC titles on the store will no longer support online multiplayer options. However, users who own the games will still be able to enjoy single-player and multiplayer modes locally.

Epic Games doesn't give without first taking something in return

''Ee will begin turning off out-of-date online services and servers for many older games in the Epic family as we move to solely support Epic Online Services with its unified friends system, voice chat features, parental controls, and parental verification features,'' the official page says. These are the affected titles:

  • 1000 Tiny Claws
  • Dance Central 1-3
  • Green Day: Rock Band
  • Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess
  • Rock Band 1-3
  • Note: Rock Band 4 online multiplayer will remain available
  • The Beatles: Rock Band
  • Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars
  • Unreal Gold
  • Unreal II: The Awakening
  • Unreal Tournament 2003
  • Unreal Tournament 2004
  • Unreal Tournament 3
  • Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition

In case you missed it: NieR Automata anime coming to crunchyroll next year.

The titles in question will also soon be removed from the Epic Store online store. Already as of today, the possibility of purchasing DLC part of the productions via in-game transactions is instead blocked.
