The Halloween maker John Carpenter suggests that Dead Space has a movie under development

Dead Space Remake is just around the corner, and it has been recently suggested by the well-known American filmmaker John Carpenter that there is a movie underway for this franchise. Carpenter also responds to rumors that surfaced a few months ago that he was directing a Dead Space film.

John Carpenter is known for many horror films including Halloween, The Thing, and The Fog, and he once mentioned that the video game he would like to adapt would be Dead Space. "That would make a really great movie. I could do that," said Carpenter to The A.V. Club on October 11, 2022.

Carpenter recently had an interview with Variety in which he was asked if there was any movement on a Dead Space movie. Which he himself denied and, also, denied the rumor made by what he said last year. But his answer suggested that there was another director chosen for the film of this title. More specifically, this was his answer:

"I’m a big video game fan, so I played all the games. I was down looking at the new digital cameras, the RED, and happened to mention to them that I would love to do a Dead Space film. That just went around, and everybody said, “Oh, when are you gonna do it?” I’m not gonna do it. I think they already have another director involved. And they haven’t asked me to do it. So until someone asks me, I wouldn’t do it. But there’s a new version of the Dead Space video game coming out in January, and I’m there."

In the event that there really is a movie in development, fans can expect a very interesting and scary product if it is focused on showcasing a similar experience to the first Dead Space game.

Dead Space Remake is set to arrive on January 27, 2023, so don't forget to pin the date on your calendar. It will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
