MEGAJUMP: The game that went from costing $500,000 USD to free on Steam

The Laptop Gaming studio surprised in 2020 by launching its first title on Steam, as it offered it for more than $500,000 USD and made it the most expensive game on Valve's platform. As time went by, the title was on sale, but now all users can save a huge amount of money and get it for free.

The game in question is MEGAJUMP, a peculiar platformer that was initially offered for $502,634 USD. Its developers decided to drastically reduce the price and now it will be free forever. Laptop Gaming explained that this decision has a curious and simple explanation.

The developers of MEGAJUMP explained that they wanted to test Steam's price limit when they launched their title. Thanks to an exploit, they were able to initially offer it at $502,634 USD, an absurdly high price.

The cost stayed that way for at least 1 month, as Valve's policies allow an adjustment in prices only 30 days after setting one. Even Laptop Gaming warned about what happened and asked players not to purchase the game until they could adjust its price.

"As some of you know, I discovered an exploit in Valve's new pricing engine. This lead me to push the price as high as I could as a joke (inspired by hidden and unknown) The game costed a whopping 505000$ to buy for a while, I got called Tang Xiaolong the money launderer and this has been a pretty stressful experience." the studio wrote in a recent Steam page announcement.

Over time, the cost of MEGAJUMP was adjusted and was even on sale several times. The title with very positive reviews challenges you to climb through several levels full of platforms, so the precision of your movements will be very important.
