Undoubtedly, The Last of Us live-action series aims to be one of history's best video game adaptations. Mind you, that's not to say there aren't some major differences: from how Bill and Frank's relationship was portrayed in episode 3 to the spread of Cordyceps.

Chapter 6 last Sunday featured an element about Joel's health that could have taken many veteran players by surprise. A large sector of the community may think that it is an original element that was implemented in the HBO series.

JOEL'S ANXIETY IN THE HBO SERIES IS CANON, THANKS TO THE REMAKE OF THE LAST OF US

We talk about Joel's anxiety attacks in the most recent episode. In the games, that issue is never even mentioned, let alone addressed. However, in The Last of Us: Part I, the remake of the original 2013 title, he introduced a clue that, in effect, suggests that the character has a history of anxiety.

As discovered by the GamesRadar+ portal, it is possible to find a bottle with pills to combat anxiety on one of the tables during the opening scene of TLOU Part I. To see it, it is necessary to use Photo Mode when we play as Sarah just before the start of the outbreak. Undoubtedly, it is a tiny detail that has no relevance in the gameplay, but that can become important in the live-action series on HBO.

It's hard to tell if this is just a coincidence or if the inclusion of the pills was deliberate to indicate that Joel suffers from anxiety attacks, as we saw in episode 6 of the TV show. Either way, that medical condition is far from feeling disconnected from the context, especially with the stress the characters face in this post-apocalyptic world.

Undoubtedly, The Last of Us series is a resounding success because it adapted the characters and important events of the original material. Its popularity is such that it allowed it to break an important House of Dragon record, and some stores even believe that the game is based on the show.

But tell us, what do you think of this subtle detail? Do you think it is a success? Does it give depth to the character? Let us read you in the comments.
