PlayStation 5 gets updated with Discord support and other long-awaited new features

After a long wait, Sony finally released a new and important update for PlayStation 5. It is version 23.01-07.00.00, which includes additions long awaited by players. This update was in the testing phase before, but now it is available for the whole community. Thanks to this, PlayStation 5 users can enjoy integration with Discord and get more out of the system's video output, as it now supports more configurations. In addition, other social features have been added that will undoubtedly be well received.

Users can now use Discord voice chat from their PS5, allowing them to easily chat with their friends to organize games or just have a good time while playing. Users can let their friends see when they are online and what they are playing.

Another important new feature is support for 1440p video output, a feature that is compatible with a variable refresh rate (VRR). A new option has been enabled in the "Video Output" section to set it to this resolution. Below is a list of the other new features of the update:

• "Join game" icon in Party Chats: players will see a new icon for group members who are in a game they can join.

• New tile: "Friends who play" will tell users what game their friends are enjoying online and who is playing it in real time.

• Game library enhancements: it is now possible to sort and filter games when adding a title to a game list. Filters were also enabled to find virtual reality games.

• Data transfer: it is now possible to move data from one PS5 to another PS5. This process does not delete or modify your data on your original PS5. Options have been enabled to make the migration of saved data from PS4 to PS5 easier.

• Screen reader improvements: this feature is now more detailed and indicates in which direction the user can move or their current position.

• DualSense update: it is now possible to update the PS5 controller wirelessly.
