"It's a woke game," gamers attack Resident Evil 4 Remake for alleged censorship

Some fans criticized the lack of humor in Capcom's video game

Since its debut at the end of March, Resident Evil 4 Remake has received almost universal praise from critics and players. However, some elements did not resonate with the entire community. While many criticisms are directed at the gameplay or performance, others are against changes to the story and tone of the adventure. And yes, there are already those who claim that it is a "woke" game.

As we told you, some players criticized Capcom for changing the character designs. In the original game, Ashley wore a skirt, while now she wears a skort, which is a short skirt. This subtle but important change eliminates some controversial situations from the 2005 game.

In addition, several jokes were removed, including Ashley's "ballistics" and the "extra time" at the end. As expected, the absence of these jokes made the community believe that the developers were "woke" and "politically correct." Some players use that as an argument to criticize the video game and share extremely low ratings on portals like Metacritic and Steam.

Censorship? Fans criticize Resident Evil 4 Remake

"I love remasters, but I don't like wokeness in my games. I already have too much frustration with my coworkers. Is this remaster worth it, or is it another work of suggestion with subliminal agendas?" asked a player on Steam.

"Politically correct plot. No ballistics or extra time," commented an upset fan. "The humor is gone and the voice acting is bad in all areas. It's even woke in some areas. It's a pretty sad little remake," argued another player on Metacritic.

"The dumbest thing is that in this game, you can eliminate Ashley, but they removed the word 'women,' which makes no sense and is censorship. They also cut other iconic words; the developers are lazy," commented a player.

Many of these criticisms are accompanied by negative ratings. That is why Resident Evil 4 Remake has extremely low scores on Metacritic from users, despite receiving praise from the press and many more players.

Unfortunately, some fans took their complaints to an unpleasant point. As we told you, Ada Wong's voice actress had to close the comments on her social media accounts due to the criticisms and threats she received from players.

But tell us, do you think Capcom censored the video game? Do you mind the new changes? Let us know in the comments.
