Stranger Things has become one of Netflix's biggest successes, and with its ending drawing nearer, the company is looking for new ways to explore this universe. Now, Netflix has found a way that is sure to excite many: an animated series.
A Dream Come True for the Duffer Brothers
Netflix confirmed that it is working on an animated series based on Stranger Things in a statement. Just like the original series, this production will be the responsibility of the Duffer Brothers.
According to the Duffer Brothers, the Stranger Things animated series will be inspired by Saturday morning cartoons they used to watch as kids. This means that, just like their successful series, this animation will be based on the 80s.
"We've always dreamed of a Stranger Things animated series with the style of Saturday morning cartoons we loved so much, and seeing this dream come true has been absolutely exciting," said the Duffer Brothers.
The Production Team Behind Stranger Things Animated Series
The Stranger Things animated series will be produced by Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps (Free Guy) and Eric Robles of Flying Bark Productions (What If…?). The Duffer Brothers expressed their excitement for what Eric Robles and his team have come up with, saying that the scripts and illustrations are incredible.
Unfortunately, there are no further details about the Stranger Things animated series at the moment. It is unclear what it will be about or when it will be released.
Rumors About Stranger Things Animated Series
However, some time ago, rumors indicated that Stranger Things would have an animated series inspired by anime that would take us to Tokyo, Japan. We'll keep an eye out and let you know if that comes true.
