Bomb Squad bundle gives an edge and Call of Duty DMZ players are furious

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has already been labeled as pay-to-win with the introduction of microtransactions that provide competitive advantages, and according to dataminers, the situation could worsen with the release of more items with battlefield advantages. The DLC package Bomb Squad has caused controversy as it offers a guaranteed medium backpack at the start of each match in the DMZ mode, which confers a clear competitive advantage. The player community has expressed their discontent and some fear for the future and integrity of the game.

Love them or hate them, microtransactions are a part of video games, especially those with an online component. While many items that can be purchased with real money are purely cosmetic, sometimes developers slip up and release items that provide competitive advantages. The most recent title to spark controversy related to pay-to-win practices is Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.

Season 3 of Activision's FPS debuted earlier this week, which means a new unheard-of Battle Pass and new cosmetic items have arrived. All items can be used in the multiplayer modes of CoD: Modern Warfare II, CoD: Warzone 2.0, and DMZ.

It is this last game mode that is in the eye of the hurricane due to the debut of a new package that includes skins and other customization items. However, one item offers significant advantages in matches.

We're talking about the Bomb Squad DLC bundle, which costs 1200 Call of Duty Points. It includes the Boom Proof blueprint for the Sakin MG38 and the EOD Specialist look for Fender. The issue is that players who equip the skin in DMZ receive a medium backpack at the start of each match, and the LMG has a 15-minute reuse time.

Like Escape from Tarkov, DMZ is an extraction mode where players must explore the map to find resources and eventually escape. When they die, they lose all their loot, including medium backpacks that expand storage space.

So, users who acquire the Bomb Squad will always have a medium backpack guaranteed in all their matches, as well as an optimized LMG. A clear competitive advantage. Of course, fans have already expressed their disgust and claim that this item is pay-to-win. And yes, some fear for the future and integrity of the game.

Despite the general discontent of the community, new clues suggest that the situation could become much, much worse. According to dataminers who delved into the game's files, Activision plans to release more items that offer an advantage on the battlefield. For example, there is a premium skin that offers a free UAV.

It will be interesting to see if developers listen to fan feedback and decide to backtrack on their plans.

But tell us, what do you think about this practice? Do you think the community is exaggerating? Do you think it will break the balance? Let us read your opinion in the comments section.
