Sony will continue to support PC gaming and promises more PlayStation ports

Despite the ups and downs, the company seems to be satisfied with its expansion

Over the past few months, we have seen major PlayStation games come to PC. We know that Sony is still willing to expand even more in the sector. That's why, in its most recent financial report, it assured that it will release more PC ports.

Releases such as God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man were well received, while other PC releases did not attract as much attention. Likewise, we have cases such as The Last of Us: Part I, a game that debuted full of problems. Despite these ups and downs, it is a fact that we will see more PlayStation games on PC.

PlayStation will not give up on PC gaming

"We are also planning to release a major title, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, this fiscal year, and we aim to continue creating new IP, rolling out catalog titles for PC and strengthening live game service development." the company mentioned in its report

Everything indicates that its expansion to PC has left Sony and PlayStation with juicy profits, which would be the main reason to continue with the expansion. In their financial report there is a section called "Other", which includes the revenue obtained from sales of first-party games on platforms other than their consoles.

Thus, it refers to the profits obtained on PC. Earnings in that section, which also include sales of peripherals and PlayStation VR, recently doubled compared to those obtained in fiscal 2021.

This suggests that Sony has done well with its PC releases, although it is also believed that they have not been as expected. Of course, this cannot be compared to the performance of its games on consoles.

Undoubtedly, this is good news for PC gaming lovers, as they will be able to continue enjoying great releases from Sony and PlayStation in the future. For now it is not clear what their next ports will be, but there are already clues about it.
