REPORT: PS5 Pro is real and studios already have development kits

Reliable sources reveal that the company is preparing a new hardware move

At the beginning of this console generation, it was said that Sony and Microsoft's hardware proposals were so good that there would be no need for a mid-generation iteration like with the PS4 and Xbox One. However, it seems that Sony could take that step, and rumors about an improved and more powerful version of the PlayStation 5 continue to arrive from reliable sources.

As reported by Tom Henderson of Insider-Gaming revealed that the PlayStation 5 Pro is in development and he is 100% sure that Sony has been working on the console for some time. However, the most interesting thing comes next as he revealed that the Japanese company has already sent out the first development kits so that studios can get to know the hardware and become familiar with it. At the same time, the report emphasizes that despite this progress, Sony could backpedal if there are no conditions to turn it into a product to sell.

On the other hand, journalist Derek Strickland of Tweak Town wrote about it on Twitter and mentioned that Sony has sent out hundreds of development kits throughout the year, referring to it as a more powerful new model of the PlayStation 5.

Regarding this, it is thought that Sony's short-term move will be to finish off the stock of current physical and digital PS5 models, present a "Slim" version with a removable disk drive that would become the standard model, and launch a PS5 Pro that would deal with the hardware demands for the second half of the current console generation.
