One Piece is one of the most important mangas and animes today. A new audience will be able to learn about its story thanks to a live-action series that will arrive on Netflix this year. Of course, the community is very concerned and fears that the adaptation will alienate new viewers and be unable to excite die-hard fans. In response, the original mangaka sent a clear message.
In a post shared on Netflix's official Twitter account, Eiichiro Oda, the author of the One Piece manga, spoke about the production of the new series that will adapt his most popular work. He noted that he works with Tomorrow Studios and Netflix to bring this project to life.
The Japanese mangaka highlighted the inherent challenges of working with people from the West. He indicates that cultural differences result in differences in codes, techniques, and aspirations, which can be frustrating in some situations. "There is a feeling that, despite having the same goal, we were vibrating at different frequencies," he commented.
Even so, Eiichiro Oda confessed that he doubted if it was possible to make a foreign adaptation of One Piece. However, he affirms that the people at Tomorrow Studios and Netflix understand each of the characters in the work, and he claims that in the end, they managed to be "in the same tune."

"If I consider that I don't have my life bought, I think this could be the last chance to take One Piece to the whole world. And if we're going to do it, I want to take advantage while I'm still active to supervise the project. That's why, in 2016, I agreed to make a live-action adaptation," the illustrator and writer confessed.
Eiichiro Oda ensured that Netflix allocated many resources to the production since it began a few years ago. The release date is scheduled for sometime in 2023, but he promises that it will debut only when he is satisfied with the final result.
The Japanese author claims that all the actors and crew "exude love" for the franchise, and he affirms that he made sure to remind them that the most important thing is that the project is fun for everyone. Finally, he confirmed that the series will have eight episodes. "We will set sail very soon!" he concluded.
Remember that the One Piece series will feature performances by Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Taz Skylar (Sanji), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Gibson (Usopp), and Mackenyu Arata (Roronoa Zoro).
But tell us, do you think this project will meet expectations? Let us read you in the comments.
