The best platform for gaming is still getting deficient ports

Redfall debuted a few days ago and unfortunately, it did not do so well. The overall experience left much to be desired, but this is worse for PC players, since once again they got a deficient port; in fact, it's so bad that it beats Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

The game was released on May 2nd and has already been reviewed by Digital Foundry, an authority on PC game performance, and the bad news is that there weren't many positive things to highlight about the title.

"Between this [Redfall] and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, I don't know what's worse. Maybe Redfall takes the crown this time," it Digital Foundry says their review.

Digital Foundry details and technically analyzes the game's performance on PC, and we can basically say that we are facing another great contender for the not-so-honorable title of the worst AAA game port for PC, leaving behind that of The Last of Us: Part I and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

After the analysis, it was found that Redfall does not make good use of the CPU or GPU regardless of the machine it is played on, so users who have even the best PCs have problems with their experience, especially traversal stutter (fps drops when exploring the world).

This would be understandable if the game had very demanding graphics, but this is not the case with Redfall. The analysis also points out the deficient shadow projection work, even in its best settings.

According to the analysis, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PC can have such poor performance that it feels like "a beta product," but Redfall also has "serious graphical presentation issues" that make its performance "twice as confusing."

"I cannot recommend Redfall to anyone other than those with modern high-end processors, such as the latest Ryzen CPU or 12th or 13th generation Intel, but they will still have to endure stuttering when moving through the world," Digital Foundry warns finally.

As with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, work on Redfall is far from over and it's possible that Arkane will prepare performance improvements and adjustments with future updates and patches.
