Switch is now in its seventh year on the market, so it is normal to think about its successor, what it will offer and, of course, its possible release date. As part of its most recent financial report, Nintendo gave some hints on the matter, but made it clear that there will still be Switch for a while.
Shuntaro Furukawa, president of the company, reaffirmed that they are not preparing a new hardware release anytime soon. This implies that we will not see a revision of Switch or a new console at least until early next year.
Analysts believe Switch successor will arrive until late 2024
Nintendo reported that it will not launch hardware in the fiscal year that will end until March 31, 2024. Thus, its focus will remain on Switch, a system that will soon receive very important games. Unfortunately, it did not share further details about what's in store for the hybrid console or information about its next console.
According to Nikkei Asia, the development of the Switch's successor is on track. Despite this, the financial newspaper predicts that it will not arrive before the spring of next year at the earliest.
On the other hand, Piers Harding-Rolls, an analyst at Ampere Analysis, told Eurogamer that Switch still has a long way to go. He noted that upcoming releases will serve to keep the system current and maintain a healthy sales pace.
The analyst predicts that the Switch's successor may arrive by the end of 2024. While there is nothing concrete for now, all bets are on a possible release window of mid to late next year. This coincides with other reports and rumors about the system, about which nothing is known.
Nintendo has only commented that it will seek to offer new forms of entertainment with its next console, but it is unclear what kind of technology it will implement and what uses it will be put to.
