The end of PlayStation 4: Sony's console lives its final moments

PS5 woke up and the big releases that still consider the previous system would be the end

This year, PlayStation 4 will celebrate a decade since its release in November 2013, and this may mean the end of one of the most successful cycles in the brand's history. Although the pandemic extended the transition period to PS5, it's known that there isn't much to see on the horizon for this console, and perhaps this will be the last year we'll see major titles on it.

The recent release of Hogwarts Legacy on its PlayStation 4 version (also on Xbox One) was one of the debuts on the list of AAA games that still considered the Sony console. While its library still has recent titles, it seems that those arriving this year will be the last. Starting this month, the PS4 will see some top video games showing that there is still life for the rest of 2023, but they can also mean goodbye, leaving the medium-term future for third-party, some AA, and indie titles.

PlayStation 4 has secure AAA releases for the remainder of the year:

  • Street Fighter 6 - June 2
  • Diablo IV - June 6
  • F1 23 - June 16
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon - August 25
  • Assassin's Creed Mirage - second half of 2023

THE ERA OF PLAYSTATION 4 HAS COME TO AN END

PlayStation 4 can still boast recent exclusive releases such as Horizon: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, God of War Ragnarök, and some third-party titles such as Resident Evil 4 Remake and the aforementioned Avalanche title inspired by the Harry Potter universe. However, upcoming PlayStation Studios releases will no longer consider a version for PS4, just like recent games such as Dead Space Remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that passed by to enter fully into the new generation.

The truth is that there will still be several releases that are scheduled for PS4, but if your idea is to keep up with important debuts on this console, you should know that 2023 could be the last year we'll see something like this.
