The latest game of Guerrilla Games' IP is close to achieving an important goal

It was at E3 2015 when Guerrilla Games announced Horizon Zero Dawn, a science fiction title that would give rise to one of the most important and solid contemporary franchises in the PlayStation family. Almost 10 years later, the franchise has already shipped a considerable number of units worldwide.

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Guerrilla Games spoke about its history and the titles that make up its portfolio in a post on the official PlayStation blog. There, they talked about their flagship franchise, Killzone, and the origins of the franchise starring Aloy.

HORIZON CONSOLIDATES AS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT IPs OF PLAYSTATION

Thus, the Amsterdam-based studio revealed that the Horizon franchise has already sold 32.7 million units worldwide. In addition, confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West, the most recent main game that debuted last year, has already shipped 8.4 million copies. Without giving details, also revealed that "millions more" discovered and played the franchise thanks to PlayStation Plus and other initiatives such as Play at Home.

The intellectual property consists of 3 titles: Horizon Zero Dawn from 2017, Horizon Forbidden West from 2022 and Horizon Call of the Mountain from 2023. In a video attached to the post, Guerrilla Games recalled that Aloy appeared as a guest character in popular video games such as Monster Hunter World, Fall Guys and Genshin Impact.

“This reception has been staggering, and we’re grateful to the community for the continued love and support for the franchise. We Guerrillas feel lucky to witness that support every day: we share community fanart and the cosplay. I want you all to know we are completely blown away by your enthusiasm", said Jan-Bart Van Beek, director of the studio.

A few weeks ago, Guerrilla Games confirmed that a third main entry and a multiplayer title of the franchise are in development. Without a doubt, Aloy is here to stay.
