Since its official announcement, it was known that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was not planned as a simple sequel, but as a current generation delivery that will continue with the events of the successful franchise that is now in the hands of Insomniac Games. The PlayStation studio enjoys recognition and credibility, hence the expectation is high among fans, but also among developers.
MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN 2 COULD BE INSOMNIAC'S BEST GAME YET
Recently, Insomniac held a Twitch stream in which Jon Paquette, narrative director of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, talked about the goals they have set in development. Part of the stream was captured by a fan (via Insider-Gaming) just when the creative pointed out that this is the studio's most ambitious title and the goal is to make it the best video game they have created, which are big words that undoubtedly excite given that it comes from one of the best teams at PlayStation Studios.
Jon Paquette's statement reads: "I'm excited about Spider-Man 2. Obviously, there's not much I can say, but man, we're really working hard to try to make sure that this is the best game we've made and we can't wait".

The release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is expected to be revealed soon and its release is expected later this year. Perhaps the rumored PlayStation Showcase (to be held in the coming days) will be the showcase for Insomniac to surprise fans with the announcements they are eagerly awaiting.
