The release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a major event for players and fans of the franchise. Some even waited in long lines for hours to get their copy and enjoy the Switch exclusive.
This caught the attention of a Twitter user who was heavily criticized for some comments she made about it. She said that seeing the line at a GameStop shocked her, as she believes all those players are wasting their lives.
She added that she can't believe so many people would wait for a video game just to spend hours in line. She claimed that all those players could be doing other things like going to the gym, reading, or starting a business. "Instead, they're wasting their lives," the woman said before receiving a wave of criticism.
As expected, the young woman's comments were not well received. The Twitter community criticized her for not understanding and respecting the passions of others. There were also comments calling her out for her stance on video games and entertainment in general.
Many players affirmed that going for their copy of the game, lining up, and hanging out with other fans was an incredible experience. Mainly because this tradition seemed to have ended after the pandemic and changes in game distribution.
Players united against the girl's stance and celebrated in a big way an event that is very important to them. In response, the young woman clarified that she doesn't have anything against people enjoying video games, but she made another comment that angered the community.
"I don't care if people play video games. I would just recommend doing it after achieving something as a reward. The problem is waiting in line for hours for a video game that you could have bought online or later," the woman said, continuing to receive criticism for her stance.
