Recently we told you that a major anime project leaker revealed that Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime series are in development. If that excited you, now you should know that the head of Sony has expressed an interest in making more anime productions.
GamesRadar reports that Sony released a summary of its recent corporate meetings. In them, we can see that Kenchiro Yoshida, President and CEO of Sony, repeatedly emphasizes that they seek to create "kando", a Japanese term that refers to feelings of excitement and satisfaction when encountering something of high quality.
One way in which Yoshida seeks to build kando for Sony is by "strengthening its creativity in areas such as music, movies, video games, and anime." In fact, he notes that his intention is to deliver it in areas where communities are born and developed.
"Under the long-term vision of expanding the number of people directly connected to the Sony Group to one billion people, Sony intends to continue delivering Kando in specific areas where communities are born, such as anime, games, and India, learning from its users and using them in its creations," the report states.
On the other hand, the report indicates that Sony sees anime as a key point to "maximize value" by deepening the release of intellectual properties. In the same vein, Sony mentions adaptations such as The Last of Us, Gran Turismo, and Twisted Metal as examples of expansions of their IP.
Finally, Sony says it is committed to "accelerating the growth of anime" with collaborations such as Crunchyroll's partnership with Aniplex, producer of Demon Slayer.
As you can see, nowhere does Sony confirm that it is working on a Ghost of Tsushima anime. That said, it's still interesting to see that they have an evident interest in expanding their anime offerings.
