Disney is such a big company that it's normal for its biggest projects to always succeed, but the reality is different. A clear example of this is their new Star Wars hotel, which will close just one year after its opening.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened in the spring of 2023 as an extremely expensive hotel that promised to make you feel like you were in a galaxy far, far away. It was an experience that cost between $4,800 USD and $6,000 USD for a single 2-night stay.

Seems like a hefty price tag, right? However, it wasn't just for staying at Galactic Starcruiser. This price included lodging, food, entertainment, and tickets to Galaxy's Edge, the Star Wars theme park in Orlando, Florida.

That being said, it seems that Galactic Starcruiser simply didn't generate enough money to be profitable. Disney explained to CNN that it was a "business decision" without giving further details.

Now, what will happen to the expensive white elephant that is Galactic Starcruiser? There is no information about it. Surely, Disney will take advantage of the location for another ambitious project in the future. For now, the resort has a few more months of life left, and Galactic Starcruiser will close on September 30th.

"This premium and boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final journey, we will take what we have learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans," Disney said.

What do you think of this news? Did you imagine this resort would close so soon? Let us know in the comments.
