Las Vegas, Nevada is entering a new era and slowly distancing itself from its image as "Sin City," aiming to become a global entertainment capital. Part of this is being achieved through connections with different sectors, and this time it's Pokémon's turn, as some streets will be named after creatures from the first generation.
LAS VEGAS IS CHANGING AND A NEIGHBORHOOD WILL HAVE STREETS WITH POKÉMON NAMES
Las Vegas is changing and beyond gambling and nightlife there are options for all kinds of audiences and families. Today, the city has an NFL team, the Raiders, an NHL team, the Knights, and will soon have the MLB's Athletics bidding farewell to Oakland. The goal is to give a renewed image, and the real estate sector is doing its part. According to a report by KLAS 8 News (via Polygon), the builders of a new neighborhood decided to name its streets after Pokémon creatures.
According to the information, the new wave of home construction around Las Vegas has generated a lot of interest in the naming of the new streets, and the residential zone construction company Serenity Place, Harmony Homes, wanted to give a youthful and family-friendly touch by naming the streets Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Snorlax, Charmander, and Charizard.
According to Andrea Miller, construction manager at Harmony Homes, the process of naming the streets is very complicated due to name review, but the company got away with proposing the names of Pokémon because no one had done it yet. The manager's testimony shows that her kids are big fans of the franchise, and this influenced the decision. Thus, the new inhabitants of Serenity Place can arrange to meet at the corner of Jigglypuff and Squirtle.
