Xbox Game Studios acknowledges that their priority is Xbox Series X|S

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are about to turn 3 years old; however, until now, the vast majority of their titles have been intergenerational releases. When will the new generation really begin? The answer is "soon," and that's because Microsoft has already said goodbye to Xbox One, its eighth-generation console.

In a conversation with Axios, Matt Booty, current head of Xbox Game Studios, talked about the brand's current situation and its future plans. One of the topics he touched on is that Microsoft is ready to go all-in and fully exploit the capabilities of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

According to Booty, the teams at Xbox Game Studios have almost completely shifted to the ninth console generation (i.e., the current one). This means that none of their internal teams - such as The Coalition, 343 Industries, Playground Games, or Turn10 Studios - are dedicating time to developing new video games for Xbox One, focusing entirely on what Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC are capable of.

Now, what about live service games like Minecraft or Sea of Thieves? Studios continue to work on supporting them, but that's all. Thus, you should not expect new releases from Xbox Game Studios to also be available on Xbox One.

It is an expected transition, and many players were already eager to see it come true. Unlike previous generations, it will be a transition that will not completely leave out those who still do not want to buy an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S. The reason? New releases can be played from an Xbox One through the cloud thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

What do you think of this news? Are you excited to say goodbye to Xbox One and fully enjoy the current console generation? Let us know in the comments.
