Square Enix is investigating "illegitimate acquisitions" of early copies

Final Fantasy XVI will debut in less than 1 week. Square Enix is very excited, but also so concerned about leaks of the game that it has just asked players not to spoil it and ruin the experience for others.

Spoilers can be devastating, especially when it comes to games focused on single-player narrative experiences like Final Fantasy XVI. For this reason, Square Enix took to its social media to make the humble request.

It was precisely the team behind Final Fantasy XVI that shared a message with fans. They said they were aware that some users are already playing the title and sharing it online.

Square Enix has taken action against leaks of Final Fantasy XVI

The developers hope that all players will enjoy the complete title "in the way the development team planned it," meaning without spoilers.

"To those who have received an early copy of the game, we kindly ask that you do not share any aspect of the game, including screenshots, videos, and live streams, until after Final Fantasy XVI has officially released," reads Square Enix's request.

Square Enix made the call kindly and asked for cooperation, but also mentioned that it is implementing containment measures and plans to remove any images, videos, or streams before the release.

Additionally, the developer mentioned that it is investigating cases of "illegitimate acquisitions" of game copies, besides acting to reduce this before the official launch.
