The rumors turned out to be true! During the latest Nintendo Direct, the Japanese company confirmed the existence of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a new 2D title in the popular plumber franchise.
The new installment in the IP has some similarities with the New Super Mario Bros. line that started on Nintendo DS and continued until the Nintendo Wii U. Thus, side-scrolling remains, although the trailer confirms that there will be new mechanics and power-ups that promise to change the core of the experience.
Judging by the official trailer, this new 2D title will be cooperative and allow up to 4 players to enjoy the adventure at the same time. Fans will be able to play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, Peach, and, for the first time in the franchise, Daisy.
The best part? Super Mario Bros. Wonder is very close: it will arrive on the Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2023. The Japanese company will share more information in the coming months.
