How much will PlayStation's Project Q cost? Microsoft thinks it has the answer

Sony revealed the portable device at the latest PlayStation Showcase

After weeks of rumors, PlayStation took advantage of its May presentation to showcase Project Q, a new portable device that will allow playing PS5 titles via streaming. Many details about this project remain a mystery, so the pricing and release date are unknown.

While waiting for more official information, it seems that Microsoft is already speculating about the price of this Sony hardware and the launch window.

Microsoft believes that Project Q will debut this year and cost less than $300 USD

In one of the documents presented in the legal battle against the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft's lawyers indicated that Sony is expected to launch "a portable version of the PS5" later this year for less than $300 USD.

Project Q is far from being a portable version of the PlayStation 5, as it is dependent on that console and will only allow playing its titles through cloud technology. Nevertheless, it appears that Microsoft's legal team was referring to that device in the document.

Now, does Microsoft really know how much Sony's new hardware will cost? It is possible that their statements are mere speculation and estimations. Therefore, it seems that we will have to be patient and wait for PlayStation to share more official information.

A few weeks ago, a report from Insider Gaming, the portal that revealed the existence of Project Q since April of this year, indicated that the portable device will have a standalone battery that will last between 3 and 4 hours. However, this is a rumor that should be taken with a grain of salt.

Sony may share more information about the price, release date, and further details in the coming months.

But tell us, how much do you think this new hardware will cost? Do you think it will be a success? Let us know in the comments.
