Hideo Kojima believes he will never make movies for this reason

The famous and acclaimed Japanese creative is working on Death Stranding 2 and more projects.

It's no secret that the prestigious director Hideo Kojima is well-versed in music, cinema, and television. Just a glance at his personal Twitter account reveals his enthusiasm for movies and TV series. While he brought his passion into his work in video games, will we ever see him as the director of a film?

At the end of last year, Kojima Productions announced a partnership with Hammerstone Studios to produce a feature film based on Death Stranding, the exploration game starring Norman Reedus.

While many thought the Japanese creative would seize this opportunity to finally direct a movie, hope dwindled when he confirmed on Twitter that, although he is heavily involved in all aspects of the production, he will not be taking the director's chair.

Although he refrained from revealing the reasons for passing up the opportunity to direct that project, Hideo Kojima shared the reasons he believes he will never be able to make a film.

Hideo Kojima acknowledges being a perfectionist

During the premiere of his new documentary, "Connecting Worlds," at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, United States, the famous and acclaimed Japanese designer attended a Q&A session organized and hosted by Geoff Keighley.

The documentary explores Hideo Kojima's enthusiasm for the seventh art, so Geoff Keighley found it relevant to question the developer if he ever plans to direct movies in addition to video games. Undoubtedly, the response surprised both insiders and outsiders.

"For me, movies are special. They are so special that I cannot make them. In games, no matter how perfect I make it, it never ends. But films are two hours long, and I have to mix everything, so I think I would never finish if I started making a movie," the designer stated.

Hideo Kojima claims to be a perfectionist, so his practices and habits as a video game director are incompatible with the way a feature film is made. "If I had to film and direct a movie, I would have to leave the studio for about a year. I can't do that," he commented.

Of course, there's always the possibility that he might change his mind. At the end of the day, he has already expressed his desire to make music and movies.

But tell us, would you like to see a film directed by the famous creative? Let us know in the comments.
