Wagner Mercenaries want to recruit gamers to fight in the invasion of Ukraine

No military experience is required, only expertise in flight simulators and video games

War never changes, but it certainly evolves. Battles that were fought with swords and spears centuries ago are now dominated by military technology such as tanks and combat drones. This also means that the skills needed to excel in combat are different. In fact, it seems that being good at a video game is now enough to participate in an invasion.

As our friends at Tarreo report, Wagner, a group of mercenaries led by Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, is seeking to expand its ranks to continue fighting in the invasion of Ukrainian territory. What caught attention (and the reason we are discussing this here) is that they are now looking to recruit individuals with experience in video games.

That's right, instead of recruiting new soldiers from Russian prisons, they are now doing so among people with experience in flight simulators or playing video games. Interestingly, the recruitment request indicates that no previous military experience is required, although good physical condition is important.

But why on earth does the Wagner Group want gamers among their ranks? The intention is to turn them into drone operators. Therefore, they are seeking individuals with experience using joysticks and who can remain focused for hours controlling a drone. These are requirements that many physically fit gamers fulfill, so it's easy to see why they are seeking people with this profile.

It is important to make it clear that the Wagner Group will not send gamers to war without proper training. In fact, the mercenary company provides training with qualified instructors to ensure that these deadly weapons are in the hands of those who know how to use them. It is worth mentioning that they also offer salary, medical insurance, and life insurance.

What do you think of this news? Did you ever imagine that organizations like the Wagner Group would seek to recruit gamers? Let us know in the comments.
