Activision's free-to-play Battle Royale to debut this year

Currently, the trial between Microsoft and the FTC regarding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard is taking place. During the legal process, a lot of information has been revealed that sheds light on how the gaming industry operates behind the scenes. Interestingly, it was also the stage to unveil the release window for ]Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

After a wave of rumors, Activision announced the iOS and Android version of its popular Battle Royale game last year. At that time, they only confirmed that it would be officially available at some point this year. It's worth mentioning that players from some regions had the opportunity to enjoy a limited-time trial version.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has a release window

During the trial where the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will attempt to block Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick took the witness stand and revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will debut this fall. Unfortunately, he refrained from disclosing the exact release date.

While the specific day and month when this free-to-play title will be available for mobile devices are still a mystery, fans should be happy to know the release window.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being developed by Activision's studios Shanghai, Beenox, Digital Legends, and Solid State. It's important to note that it will be separate from CoD: Mobile, the free-to-play title by Tencent that debuted in 2019. While the Battle Royale mode for up to 120 players will be the main focus, it will also include other modes such as Team Deathmatch and Domination.

This new game is built from scratch and will bring back Verdansk, the original map from CoD: Warzone. An interesting detail is that it will be a unified ecosystem, as it will have integration with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. This will allow for cross-progression.

While waiting for the release, mobile users can enjoy the new season of CoD: Mobile, which adds new content.
